Beijing schools kick off the new semester on September 1, 2023.
Xiayunling Central Elementary School, which suffered severe damage due to Beijing's record rainfall in August, has started its new semester as scheduled. Students, teachers, and parents were joined by emergency construction workers on the refurbished playground.
The school, located in suburban Beijing, has a total of 109 students. It was heavily affected by intense rainfall and floods, resulting in significant damage to its buildings and playground.
