Editor's Note:
The Hangzhou branch of the China National Archives of Publications and Culture (NAPC), located in the capital of East China's Zhejiang Province, is dedicated to promoting the preservation, exhibition, research and communication of China's archival heritage. It serves as one of the national databases of bibliology resources and a “seed bank” for Chinese civilization.
It preserves various resources that bear the imprint of Chinese civilization since ancient times, including ancient books, bronze ware and contemporary newspapers that reflect stories and thoughts of historical celebrities as well as ordinary people.
The design of the NAPC (Hangzhou) highlights the beauty of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), with its architecture inspired by gardens of the time. The most eye-catching feature is the row of standing celadon screen doors, which complement each other with the Song-styled gardens. This configuration recreates a traditional Chinese painting, attracting visitors to record the picturesque view.
