The 33rd Summer Olympic Games opening ceremony was held in Paris on Friday. This Olympic opening ceremony was the first in Olympic history to not be held inside a sports stadium. Athletes from various countries paraded along the Seine River on boats. The opening ceremony concluded with the lighting of the Olympic cauldron at the main torch in the Tuileries Garden in Paris.
