The classic Chinese ballet "The Red Detachment of Women" celebrated the 60th anniversary of its premiere at Beijing's Tianqiao Theater on Thursday. Set in Hainan Island in the early 1930s, the story centers around Wu Qionghua, a rural woman who escapes slavery and joins an all-female Communist Party of China battalion led by Commander Hong Changqing.
