Chongqing duo Wang Rong and Ma Qijin claimed victory in the above-55kg swing competition with 87 bell touches as the National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities continued in full swing on Saturday in Sanya, South China’s Hainan Province. Swinging has deep roots in Chinese tradition, particularly in Northeast, Central, South, and Southwest China. Historically, it was a favored pastime, even gracing the royal palace during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty (206 BC–AD 220). (Photo: Cui Meng/GT)
