The annual Navam Perahera festival was held at the Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo, Sri Lanka on February 9, 2017. The celebrations involved scores of monks, drummers, dancers and elephants, hailing predominantly from the central part of the island nation. Throngs of people descended upon Colombo from the various regions of Sri Lanka to participate in the city's largest Buddhist procession, with festivities starting on February 9 and concluding the following day.
