March 12, 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen's passing. Visitors gathered at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall at Biyun Temple in Xiangshan, Beijing, to pay tribute and visit the exhibition showcasing the lives of Sun Yat-sen and his wife Soong Ching-ling. The Vajra Throne Pagoda once housed Sun Yat-sen’s remains for four years before they were transferred to Nanjing when the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing completed construction in 1929. His clothing and coffin were preserved here as a symbolic tomb, with a memorial plaque handwritten by Soong Ching-ling.
Sun was born in 1866 and passed away in 1925. He is known to the Chinese people as a great pioneer of China's democratic revolution for his leading role in the 1911 Revolution, which ended more than 2,000 years of feudal rule in China. (Photo: Li Hao/GT)
