International World Water Day, which falls on March 22, aims to focus global attention on the importance of water and the need for sustainable water resource management. A total 33 countries will face water stress by 2040, according to the World Resources Institute. But for countries such as Pakistan, the situation is more immediate. According to the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources, the country already reached the “water stress line” – in 1990.
