An Indian vendor sells vegetables sitting under a truck outside a market in Kolkata on Wednesday. The Indian Meteorological Department has backtracked on their projections of monsoon revival, declaring that the country will have "deficient monsoon" in 2012. Monsoon rains are a key factor for global commodities markets, strengthening the output of various crops in India, which could help bring relief to Asia's third-largest economy in its battle with high food prices.
