The Juntianfang Studio kicked off the first leg of a free exhibition tour featuring the art of the traditional Chinese guqin in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang Province, according to a press release sent to Global Times.

Funded by the China National Art Fund, the China Guqin Art and Lifestyle Exhibition seeks to give visitors a chance to learn how guqin, also known as the Chinese zither, are made, as well as experience the "guqin lifestyle" for themselves by taking part in several interactive activities.

The exhibition, which is being held at the Ningbo Museum of Art, also includes a guqin performance by musicians from the Juntianfang Studio on January 8 at the Ningbo Grand Theater.

Guqin and its related music was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008. Since then, the 3,000-year-old instrument has gained in popularity throughout China.

After January 11, the exhibition will move on to other cities throughout China.
