The first Jing Art Expo turned the past weekend into a celebration of contemporary art at the Quanye Bazzar in downtown Beijing. The first art expo organized by the Shanghai-based Art021 team, the Jing Art Expo boasted artworks from 32 galleries and art centers around the world, including top galleries like Hauser & Wirth and the David Zwirner gallery.

According to Ying Qinglan, one of the expo's founders, they were not surprised to see such a large number of visitors, including collectors and art critics, since the event was showcasing jewelry and porcelain wares in addition to more expensive artworks such as paintings and sculptures.

The David Zwirner gallery brought three classic works by German artist Josef Albersas as well as works from young artist Josh Smith.

The Taiwan-based Eslite Gallery brought a special exhibit of works from Chinese artists Liu Xiaodong, Yu Hong and Lu Liang.

This was the first time that the David Zwirner gallery and Hauser & Wirth have attended an art expo in Beijing.
