The chairman of SOHO China has launched a defamation lawsuit against bloggers and online commentators who have claimed his company's massive office developments have bad feng shui.

At a promotional event on Wednesday, Pan Shiyi, told the audience that social media commentators have used feudal superstition to attack his landmark Beijing office building that has many internet companies as tenants.

The bloggers' "superstitious comments have not only infringed on the company's reputation, they have also created psychological doubts for potential tenants," said Pan.

A commentator named shengunju published an article on his official WeChat account, saying Wangjing SOHO had bad feng shui, which uses water and wind to determine a building's ethereal qualities such as luck and health.

"I don't believe in feng shui. If there are tenants who worry about it, well you don't have to come, but please stopping slamming Wangjing SOHO," Pan said to giggles from the audience.
