Ballet opera ‘Spartacus’ to be staged at National Centre for the Performing Arts during Meet In Beijing festival

The National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre from Belarus will stage ballet opera Spartacus at the China's National Centre for the Performing Arts on the nights of May 3 and 4 as part of the upcoming Meet In Beijing arts festival, its organizers announced on Wednesday. 

Making its debut in 1980, the three-act Spartacus composed by Aram Khachaturian, follows the exploits of Spartacus, the leader of a slave uprising against the Romans.

Additionally, Wang Xiuqin, general manger of the China Performing Arts Agency, said that the Ballet Gala of Asia will be held at the Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center. 

An important part of the Meet In Beijing arts festival, the event will see dancers from the National Ballet of China work with their counterparts from countries like South Korea and the Philippines on May 14.
