Sohu TV will focus on producing small-budget quality and popular content, said Zhang Chaoyang, the streaming platform's CEO, on Wednesday at a promotional event in Beijing.

Self-produced dramas and entertainment shows, professional-generated-content (PGC) and user-generated-content (UGC) will be the main future direction for Sohu TV.

Since the launch of its "small-but-beautiful" strategy in 2018, Sohu TV has been working on finding new ways to produce content instead of spending money on hiring big stars and buying high-priced broadcast rights.

In 2018, a number of its small-budget self-produced dramas performed well in the market.

This success has attracted the attention of foreign partners. For instance, its show Well-intended Love will be translated into 26 languages according to a cooperation agreement between Sohu TV and overseas streaming giant Netflix.
