Linyi in East China's Shandong Province will host the ICF (International Canoe Federation) Canoe Sprint Champions Cup from September 17 to 19, organizers said Monday.
Wan Hongjun, executive chief of Chinese Canoe Association, said hosting the Champions Cup will give Chinese athletes a chance to learn from athletes from around the world.
"The competitions give Chinese athletes a chance to learn from top-level athletes," Wan said. "Gaining high-level competition experience is also important as our athletes are preparing for the 2020 Olympics."
The China Canoe Open will also be featured in the three-day competition.
Linyi, located in the southern part of Shandong, started to host major canoe events in 2017.
