Hundreds of Chinese and foreign guests attended an India Day celebration on Saturday at the International Horticultural Exhibition in Beijing.

Organized by the Embassy of India in Beijing, the celebration was held as part of activities commemorating India's independence from the United Kingdom on August 15, 1947. To present the long history and amazing culture of India, multiple performances were held at the event including Manipuri dance (a northeastern classical India dance) and Kathak dance (one major Indian dance form) and yoga.

India's distinctive architecture, religion, dances and culinary traditions were also on display at the International Horticultural Exhibition's India Garden.

According to Indian Ambassador to China Vikram Misri, the India Garden exhibition at the International Horticultural Exhibition has been a great success, attracting more than 5 million visitors.

Li Yi, the Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition deputy director, also praised India's cooperation and contribution to the exhibition.
