A Tibetan language translation software, Zangyitong, which applies AI technologies and automatic speech reorganization, is now available in Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region and Sichuan Province, the Tibet Daily reported on Monday.
The translation software, which was jointly developed by the Tibet-based GoodSun TGTIC and iFlytek, would offer translations between different languages, particularly from Tibetan language to Putonghua, and read out loud the translated text. It will also keep updating the language database of dialects to ensure accuracy.
Installed with advanced AI technologies, the software can also be used offline. The software is accessible for Android and IOS users.
There are a few translation products for Tibetan languages and Zangyitong would offer an opportunity to further develop the intelligent voice technology of the information industry of Tibet, according to the Tibet Daily.
A series of Tibetan-Chinese translation apps and software programs were also launched in Northwest China's Qinghai Province to better promote communication between different ethnic groups, and boost economic and cultural development in Tibetan areas in 2018, the Xinhua News Agency reported.
The 12 apps and software programs, developed by the China Ethnic Languages Translation Bureau, include audio-to-audio translation, audio-to-text translation, audio-to-text typing, online proof-reading software, and an e-dictionary.
Audio-to-audio translation software for some ethnic languages has been used for procuratorial work, poverty relief, and production and life in agricultural and pastoral areas.
The China Ethnic Languages Translation Bureau has developed 40 translation apps and programs for many ethnic languages, Xinhua reported.
