Serenity, a US thriller film starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, will hit Chinese mainland big screens on December 20, the film's official Sina Weibo account announced Monday.

Directed by Steven Knight, the film tells the story of Baker Dill, a fishing boat captain struggling to deal with his mysterious past and a new perplexing reality after his ex-wife returns to disrupt the serenity of his life.

Hitting US theaters in January, the film has a current score of 6.1/10 on Chinese media review site Douban.
