Chinese artist Kou Kerang kicked off a new exhibition at Rongbaozhai in Beijing to showcase nearly one hundred calligraphy pieces that he created recently. Kou is well-known for his running style in terms of Chinese calligraphy, which means he has to memorize a lot of things before writing.
With a solid foundation of years of practicing, Kou started to follow the different styles of ancient Chinese masters like Yan Zhenqing, Wang Xizhi and Zhang Xu, and then formed his own style.
"These works mainly were created from August to October. I hope to record and clarify my own style through this exhibition," Kou said at the opening. "For these exhibits, I used many attempts in terms of layout and picked some classic mottoes of China's traditional philosophy, in order to pay respect to traditions."
