More than 30,000 people have opened new stores on Taobao, popular e-commerce platform, every day since February 1, and the number of new online stores opened rose 22 percent last week, with residents from Guangdong, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu Province grabbing the top three spots, said Taobao’s parent company Alibaba on Monday.

Over the past week, different parts of the country have entered the "resume work mode" in provinces excluding Hubei, with epidemic prevention and control measures going hand-in-hand with factory production, an Alibaba report released on Monday said.

Data from the state information center showed by February 12, the enterprise operation rate had reached 26.06 percent. According to February 14 electricity consumption data, more than 60 percent of the enterprises in Guangdong have resumed production, according to the center.

With more companies resuming production and sales, businesses on Taobao have been brisk. To attract customer orders, many restaurants turned their kitchens into live-streaming sites; 4S stores have adopted live broadcasting to boost car sales; real estate agents are promoting properties online; and more well-known Chinese entertainers and movie-stars have swarmed to the Taobao platform to host their private music show.

To help private business owners, Alibaba Group has announced 20 special measures on February 10 to help small and medium-sized enterprises including low-interest online loans.
