Donald Trump's "Ask China" response to an Asian-American journalist from CBS shocked not only those attending the White House press briefing, but also people thousands miles away in China, leading popular Chinese singer Huang Zitao to take to social media to slam the US president.

The former member of South Korean-Chinese boy band EXO posted a comment on China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo early Wednesday to his nearly 55 million followers, questioning Trump's intentions: "Why ask China?... How you dare mention China? Really fuck you."

Huang's comment won the support of many Chinese netizens. Hours after the comment, the topic #HuangZitaodissedTrump began trending on Sina Weibo, earning thousands of comments and more than 300 million views.

Most of the comments have shown respect and support for his patriotic behavior as well as discontent toward some US politicians' irresponsible attempts to shift blame.

"Our hot blooded Huang Zitao, straight and cute! I am glad to see Tao diss Trump. So cool," says one of the most popular comments.

"His kindness and patriotism come from his inner heart. He is really brave to do so," says another comment.
