A man from Central China's Henan Province was startled to find his car that he lost eight years ago after receiving a phone call requesting him to move a vehicle, BTV reported on Friday.

The man, surnamed Yang, who is an owner of a local car rental company, lost his car in 2012 after renting it to a customer who later made a second deal with other people and used the car as a mortgage at a low price.

Yang reported the case to the police but the car was unable to be located as it was not installed with GPS.

Local police said the suspect had been involved in three cases of deliberately transferring cars from rental companies. Two cars have been tracked down, while Yang's car was the only one left.

Netizens on social platform Sina Weibo shared the happiness with Yang, while some joked that after being lost and then found, the car is probably just a pile of scrap metal now.

"The car owner probably feels like someone who has got back his beeper, which can no longer be used,"read one comment.
