A 43-year-old man in Puyang of Central China's Henan Province tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, 19 days after returning to China from Guinea, the local health authority announced on Thursday. He was diagnosed as an asymptomatic patient on Wednesday.

The man, surnamed Zhang, boarded a flight from Guinea on October 6, which travelled via Paris, before arriving at Tianjin Binhai International Airport, on October 8.

Two nucleic acid tests during Zhang's 14-day quarantine, which lasted from October 8 to 22, at the designed location in Tianjin, returned negative results.

Zhang then returned to Puyang on October 23 to continue his quarantine at a designated location. He tested positive for COVID-19 on October 27.

He is now under medical observation in isolation at an infectious disease hospital in Puyang, the local authority said. All his close contacts have received nucleic acid tests and are undergoing quarantines at designated places.
