A World Heritage photography exhibition kicked off on Monday in Zhangjiajie, Central China’s Hunan Province, covering 115 world heritage sites around the world.

Under the theme of “Communication, Sharing, Protection and Inheritance,” a total of 115 groups of photographs from World Heritage sites around the world including Zhangjiajie in China, the Dolomites in Italy and the Grand Canyon in the US were selected and exhibited, Xinhua News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Since the event was launched in December 2019, nearly 10,000 photographers have participated, submitting over 43,000 pictures and 200 videos. More than 4,500 photographs from over 450 photographers around the world are related to the coronavirus under the theme of “Culture and Life, You, Me and Him under the Epidemic.”

According to reports, China and Italy are the countries that have the largest number of UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The year 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Italy, and the exhibition showcases World Heritage images from China and Italy. The exhibition will also hold international dialogue and exchange activities between the two countries’ World Heritage of Wulingyuan Scenic area in Zhangjiajie, China and the Dolomites in Italy.

Some forums and seminars on photography and tourism will also be held.

The exhibition will last for seven days and ends on November 22, according to Xinhua News Agency.
