An elementary school in Harbin, capital of Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, issued an emergency suspension notice on Monday after a number of norovirus infections were discovered.
According to media reports, some students at Jihong Elementary School had showed symptoms including diarrhea and vomiting. The local disease control and prevention center launched an investigation and found several students had been infected with norovirus.
The reports did not mention the number of infections.
The school issued the class suspension notice to parents early Monday in school WeChat group, and said it would provide online lessons to students and thoroughly disinfect the school, media reported.
Epidemiologists have warned that the norovirus has entered its peak season, and schools and child care institutes, where cluster norovirus infections are likely to occur, should pay more attention to disease prevention and control.
