The Land Yacht Open was held in Qinhuangdao, North China's Hebei Province on Sunday, as the coastal city continues to boost yachting's popularity during the winter season.

The Yanshan University team won the team race while the Hebei Port Group team finished in second.

Traditional yacht races are rarely held in the northern part of China during the winter, as strong waves and freezing temperatures make the water sport inadvisable outdoors. Thus land yacht races have become an option for enthusiasts.   

Differing from traditional yachting, land yachting sees competitors leave the water behind and take to wheeled vehicles powered by the wind through the use of a sail.
