Police in Liuzhou, South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, have finally closed a prolonged criminal case, catching a fugitive who had escaped from prison 31 years ago after being held accountable for raping and abducting a woman, The Paper reported. 

The fugitive, surnamed Luo, was 27 years old at the time and lived in a small village in the mountainous area of Liuzhou in 1987. Having made his way out of the village before and experiencing the splendour of large cities, he became notorious among local villagers, including a woman, young and curious about outside world, who begged him to take her there. 

Luo agreed to take her to North China's Hebei Province, and promised to find her a suitable job. So she jumped on the train without hesitation, unaware of Luo's evil plan that lured her to the remote countryside, then raping her, and selling her to a household.

He escaped after committing the crime, but it was not long after that police caught him and sentenced him 15 years in jail. Luckily for him, he was able to run away during a labor shift after only serving only two years.

Thus he began his 31 years wandering around, working between construction sites and retail shops. Recently, local police identified Luo's wrinkly face that still largely resembled the face on the wanted list.

"What do you want from me?" asked Luo, struggling for his last chance to escape.

"We want you for things you did 30 years ago," replied the police.
