Former leader of the Hong Kong pro-secessionist group Studentlocalism, Tony Chung Hon-lam was sentenced to four months in prison on Tuesday for insulting the Chinese national flag and participating in illegal gatherings.
According to the court, Chung broke a flag pole and threw the national flag into the air during a protest in May, committing the crime of insulting the national flag.
Chung, 19, has been detained since October. He was also
charged with secession and faces counts of money laundering and conspiracy to publish seditious content, according local media.
