A total of 1.7 million people in Beijing had received COVID-19 inoculations by Saturday, and 30,000 more delivery men in the city will be vaccinated by Monday, bringing the total number of inoculated delivery men to 80,000, the Beijing Youth newspaper reported on Sunday.

The Chinese capital started inoculating key groups with home-made COVID-19 vaccines in the new year, including people who work in industries where they are at higher risk of infection.

Beijing authorities have worked with major online service platforms in China, such as JD.com and Meituan, to carry out the vaccination program among their delivery men, who have played an important role in ensuring the logistics and market supply in the city.

Beijing has set up a total of 205 infusion sites, more than 8,700 personnel, and 66 municipal emergency vaccination teams as the city continues to expand its mass vaccination program.
