People's Liberation Army (PLA) border defense troops stationed in Karakorum at an elevation of more than 5,000 meters can play arcade games to relax after finishing intensive training missions, a media report revealed on Monday.
A combined arms regiment under the PLA Xinjiang Military Command has established an entertainment tent, in which the troops can ease training fatigue by playing arcade games and enjoying traditional Chinese cultural activities, China Central Television (CCTV) reported on Monday.
The arcade games include dancing machines, basketball machines, racing simulators, and arcades for fighting and shooting games, the CCTV report showed.
Troops can also play chess and poker or enjoy calligraphy and painting.
"With a good rest, we are more ready for training and combat," the report quoted one of the troops as saying.
"We are stationed at an elevation of more than 5,000 meters. The temperature can reach -30 C and the snow can be two meters high," said Jin Xin, director of the political work department with the regiment.
"The troops are not afraid of the hardship, so we need to do our best to provide a comfortable environment and ease their worries, so they can devote themselves to training and preparing for combat without distraction," Jin said.
Chinese netizens commented under the report that they are happy to see border defense troops are getting good support.
"Striking a balance between work and rest is great!" said one netizen. "We should give the best conditions to border defense troops," said another.
