US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has lied too much and what he has "determined" is another ridiculous lie, Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Wednesday, noting that the politician infamous for lying has made himself a clown and joke with his last frenzy.

The ministry's remarks were made in response to a question concerning the US State Department's Tuesday press statement titled "Determination of the Secretary of State on Atrocities in Xinjiang," which claimed that the Communist Party of China is committing genocide in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. 

Crimes against humanity and genocide are clearly defined in international law. The so-called crimes and genocide in Xinjiang are sensational lies fabricated by anti-China and anti-Communist forces. They only exist in a conspiracy of evil politicians like Pompeo; they have not, are not and will not occur in China, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said at Wednesday's press conference. 

China has repeatedly explained the reality in Xinjiang with numbers and specific cases in eight white papers and 23 press conferences. The region has received 200 million tourists from worldwide, and 1,200 diplomats, journalists and religious representatives from more than 100 countries have witnessed not only the beautiful landscape in Xinjiang, but also the harmonious and happy lives of local residents of all ethnicities, Hua said. 

Over the past six decades, the average life expectancy in Xinjiang has increased from 30 to 72 years. The Uygur population grew by 25 percent between 2010 and 2018, higher than the region's overall population increase of 14 percent and far more than the Han people's 2 percent increase. Ethnic minorities' languages, cultures and customs are well protected. 

Hua also stressed China's implementation of the UN's Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism, which protected the lives of all ethnicities in Xinjiang, while guaranteeing security and stability in the region. China also offers training and creates jobs for Xinjiang residents to cast aside poverty and improve their livelihoods. 

Pompeo's lies on Xinjiang are insults to the 25 million Xinjiang residents and 1.4 billion Chinese people, show contempt for Americans' and the international community's judgment, and are a betrayal of basic conscience, Hua noted.

The lies not only reflect Pompeo's low character, but also demonstrate that some forces in the US have attempted to smear China and the CPC to interfere in China's internal affairs and jeopardize China's stability and development, the spokesperson said.

The lies and political viruses Pompeo spread over the past years are doomed to be swept into the dustbin of history, and he will also face the trial of history, Hua said.
