In order to avoid possible sporadic infections of COVID-19, Wuhan University in Central China’s Hubei Province is calling its students back to campus in groups for the spring semester, opening an online registration system on Monday.
Undergraduates will return from February 23-24, and graduating undergraduates without class assignments can return from February 25-28, its official WeChat account read on Sunday. Graduate students can apply to return to school from February 22-24 for scientific research. Classes start on February 25.
The notice also made it clear that students are not allowed to return to school in advance before the school approves their applications.
The notice was issued in the post-epidemic era when Wuhan has recovered and revived itself from the COVID-19 outbreak. The city had been hit hard by the epidemic in the first half of 2020. China has suffered from imported cases from overseas since 2020.
The university’s notice said that students from low-risk areas can apply to return to school with a health code.
Students with fever, cough, fatigue, sore throat, diarrhea and other symptoms are not allowed to return to school until they are cured without symptoms. And a health code and a negative result from nucleic acid testing within seven days are required. The university will cover the testing fee one time for every student.
Those from medium- or high-risk areas are not allowed to return to school.
Students that cannot return to campus in time can apply for online courses.
Before the spring semester begins, students should report their health condition on the university’s online registration system for consecutive 14 days.
The students who are eligible to return to school are requested to report the details of their returning train tickets including departure and destination station, time, train and seat number.
When entering the campus, they should line up with an interval of more than one meter and take body temperatures. After returning to the school, students are also requested to continue to report their health condition every day.
The university said they provide online and offline counseling services for the students. Also, it will continue to open a channel for COVID-19 temporary hardship grants to assist students in need.
