Police arrested a criminal suspect at a rented apartment in East China's Anhui Province on Sunday after he confessed to taking advantage of his job at a courier service to steal an iPhone and replace it with a box of apple-flavored yogurt.
A woman first reported the case on Friday after she opened a package she received which was supposed to be the iPhone she had bought, but found the dairy product instead.
In a video circulating online, the woman said she had spent 10,099 yuan ($1,563) to buy an iPhone 12 on Apple's official website, only to receive a package with a box of apple-flavored yogurt two days later.
Local police said on Thursday that the case appeared to be one of theft. Earlier, both Apple and Express Mail Service - the courier company that delivered the package - told the woman that they are launching an investigation.
Local police finally located the suspect, a 31-year-old male surnamed Long, who worked as a delivery worker and used his work position to carry out the crime.
