A 12-year-old schoolgirl has won widespread praise online after she used her pocket money to buy 2,000 masks to give to bus drivers, hoping to help passengers who forget to wear them.
A video circulating on the Internet shows Zhang Yuchen, a fifth-grader in Fuyang, East China's Anhui province, waiting at a bus stop near her home all day on Sunday, delivering masks to every bus that came by. That day, she handed out 2,000 masks that she had bought with her allowance to 14 bus drivers and asked them to give them to passengers who had forgotten theirs.
Zhang said that she got the idea after her father once forgot his mask when he needed to take a bus and was kindly helped by other passengers onboard. She said that she hopes her masks will help more passengers in the future.
"Children are always full of goodwill towards the world," a netizen wrote on China's Twitter-like platform Sina Weibo, "It is inspiring that she understands the idea of giving back to the community at such a young age."
