A makeup course set up by a university for senior citizens in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shannxi Province, has attracted many middle-aged and elderly female students, with netizens joking that it could "make their husbands jealous."

According to a video posted by The Paper on Tuesday, the course is being offered by Shaanxi Xi'an University for the Aged in Northwest China's Shannxi Province, and has attracted many elderly female students. "The oldest student in the class is 70, with an average age of 55," explained Li Ailing, the makeup teacher.

"At the beginning, I felt that makeup was a business for young people, and had nothing to do with the elderly. But in fact, at this age, they need to dress up more so that they can feel more confident and beautiful," Li said.

One of the students in the class, surnamed Fan, said that her son is very supportive about her learning makeup, unlike her husband, who didn't support it as it "gave him a sense of crisis." But in the video, Fan said she felt very good about it. "The older we are, the more beautiful we should become."
