A total of 37 galleries and art institutions in Beijing are returning to the Beijing Gallery Weekend to bring art to hungry art lovers now that the country has nearly recovered from COVID-19.
The annual art expo will host exhibitions from 29 galleries featuring international and domestic artists.
"People still love to see artworks in person at real cultural venues," said Wang Yifei, director of Gallery Weekend.
"We are witnessing a booming art market in China and feeling the enthusiasm and passion for art from collectors, art insiders and the general public."
The world is slowing down due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but "in China, galleries and art institutions are still running orderly thanks to the Chinese government's effective measures," explained Leng Lin from Pace Asia Pacific.
"Galleries in Europe and the US are still struggling to make it amid the crisis. However, the 798 Art Zone is taking a different path."
The event is scheduled to open on Tuesday and come to an end on May 2.
