Ceramics are at the center of young Chinese artist Sun Yu's new exhibition in Seoul, South Korea, not only because she spent four years working on them during university in China, but also because she showed great interest and talent in the medium.
Sun, who is still pursuing her doctorate degree at Sangmyung University, is showcasing a total of 12 ceramic works at the
Numerous Living Beings exhibition at the Gallery Weolhae.
In the eyes of Sun, a ceramic work needs ingredients like earth, water and air, just like all living beings in the world. "The process of making the ceramic works looks much like the journey of life," she said.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic inspired her to rethink the meaning of life and put this thinking, respect for every living being, into her art.
