Beijing authorities announced Sunday that radio control would be implemented in some parts of the city on the celebration day for the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on July 1. The city has also strengthened security checks for passengers at the capital's airports. 

According to a regulation that the Beijing government issued on Sunday, the city will restrict or prohibit the use of radio stations, radio transmitting equipment and remote control and telemetry radio equipment from 12 am to 12 pm on July 1. 

It will also block specific radio frequencies and impose compulsory management of the emission, radiation and transmission of radio waves during the period, said the notice. 

The radio control will be mainly implemented inside Beijing's core downtown areas. 

The regulation was issued with the consent of the People's Liberation Army Central Theater Command, it said.

The use of all interphones, wireless network outdoor base stations and wireless spread spectrum outdoor stations are prohibited in the area covered by the control, except for those approved by the radio regulatory authority that will be used for the celebrations on the day. 

Mobile phone jammers, GPS jammers and wireless remote control equipment for aviation, and navigation will also be banned. 

Beijing Capital International Airport on Sunday said it will beef up security checks in the coming days, and reminded passengers to undergo early check-in at the airport. 

To better prepare for the grand celebration, the Tian'anmen Square will also be closed for construction from Wednesday to July 2. 

Unmanned aerial vehicles, model aircraft, kites, balloons and lanterns are also prohibited from flying from June 13 to July 1 in nine districts of the city, which have been designated as "restricted aerial zones" during the celebration period.
