A man in Xingren, Southwest China's Guizhou Province, was saved by local police after passing out at the edge of a high cliff where he had gone to commit suicide, according to media reports on Friday.
The police found the man "unconscious" at the cliff on June 15. According to a video of the rescue posted by Kankan News, the man was lying in a bush with his legs dangling over the edge and was unresponsive to their attempts to wake him.
After more than an hour of intense rescue efforts, the man was finally transferred to safety and was uninjured.
The 20-year-old man told the police that he had gone to the cliff drunk after a quarrel with his family and had intended to jump to his death, but was so inebriated that he passed out at the edge.
