Chinese Embassy in South Africa and the National Press Club South Africa jointly held an online high-level dialogue entitled "Celebrating the Centenary of the CPC and Jointly Ushering in Shared Future" on Monday in celebration of the centenary of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
In his keynote speech, Chinese Ambassador Chen Xiaodong first expressed his gratitude to Cyril Ramaphosa, the chairman of the African National Congress party, and Blade Nzimande, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of South Africa, for sending a congratulatory letter to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, saying that this fully embodies the special friendship of "comrades and brothers" between China and South Africa.
Chen said that under the new situation, the CPC is willing to work with the African National Congress (ANC), the Communist Party of South Africa and other political parties and people in Africa and around the world to carry out mutual learning, deepen the exchange of experience in Party building and state governance, promote party-to-party exchanges, dock each other's development strategies, and jointly create a better future.
ANC Treasurer-General Paul Mashatile stressed that the CPC is a progressive party, which not only benefits China, but also is an inspiration for the world. The ANC attaches great importance to the party to party relations with the CPC, appreciates China's achievements in poverty alleviation and anti-corruption, and is willing to learn from China's valuable experience and practice of rapid economic development and long-term social stability in the process of social and economic transformation in South Africa.
"I believe that the CPC will continue to lead China in the process of moving towards the second century, firmly safeguard the international order of fairness and justice, and make greater contributions to world peace and development. Long live the CPC! Long live the friendship between South Africa and China,” Mashatile said.
Former South African President Motlanthe admired the CPC for seeking truth from facts and forming systems, principles and policies conducive to national development by formulating development plans in various fields. The CPC has an advanced system for selecting and appointing leading cadres to ensure the long-term continuous stability of the national goals.
Mapaila, the first deputy general secretary of Communist Party of South Africa, pointed out that the world development is still facing the problem of imbalance between the north and the south, and the practice of the US pursuing unilateralism and suppressing and containing China's development is totally impractical. Africa and China, South Africa and China, should become a model for the development of international relations.
Participants attending the dialogue praised the glorious achievements made by the CPC over the past 100 years, gave an in-depth analysis of the secrets to the success of the CPC and described the inspiration of the CPC's ruling philosophy for South Africa and Africa.
Chen's accounts on Twitter, the embassy's YouTube, Facebook and other new media gave live broadcasting of the event, which attracted nearly 30,000 views. Netizens said that it is of great significance to hold this dialogue on the occasion of the centenary of the founding of the CPC, and it has an important enlightening role in promoting the post epidemic construction of African countries.
Chen hosted the online dialogue with nearly 200 South African representatives from all walks of life attending the meeting.
