Local pork trading market and places in Nanbu county, Nanchong of Southwest China’s to be closed for a period of 48 hours from 12am on Tuesday, in order to quarantine against African swine fever, the local government announced on Sunday.
Nanbu government announced the suspension notification via its official WeChat account on Sunday. To prevent the further spread African swine fever in the region and to ensure the pork supply, local pork production office decided to suspend the local trade of pork for 48 hours from Tuesday 12am, and to disinfect related places including slaughter houses and trade markets, said the notification.
The 48-hour-suspension of local pork trade had become a normal control approach of disease. According to Nanbu’s official WeChat account, local trade of pork had been suspended for 48 hours respectively in March 2021, May and October in 2020, and August in 2019.
