Budweiser APAC recently announced a $24.76 million investment in Putian, East China's Fujian Province, to build a new craft brewery in the city and expand its brewery with an additional 20 million hectoliter capacity expansion.

"We have a long-term and unwavering commitment to China and to Asia Pacific," Mr. Jan Craps, Co-Chair and CEO of Budweiser APAC, said. "We made this strategic move driven by the growth and recovery of the Chinese economy and the strong consumer needs in the high-end beer segment. With strong support from local government and the industry cluster in Putian, we are excited to build this Putian craft brewery with our continuous investment in R&D and implementing our sustainable initiatives."

Budweiser APAC has forged a long-standing, positive cooperative relationship with Putian city, Fujian province. Putian's industry position and advantages has allowed Budweiser APAC to strengthen its commitment in the city and in China with confidence and new supply chain strategies. The new craft brewery will provide discerning consumers with more diversified high-end beer options.

Increasing local investment to boost the industrial economy

Budweiser APAC's recently-announced investment will increase the production capacity of the Putian Brewery further. Additionally, the Putian Brewery already stands as a technologically-sophisticated facility with a range of cutting-edge technologies.

Wide-ranging efforts to invest in a sustainable future

The Putian Brewery is a large grid-connected distributed photovoltaic plant in the city. The brewery is able to remove 13 thousand tons in CO2 emissions, the equivalent of planting 1.2 million trees, and leverages a heat recovery and secondary utilization system that reduces 60,000 tons of steam annually.

This investment is consistent with the Budweiser APAC 2025 Sustainable Development Goals, which commit to sustainable development in areas including climate action, water conservation, circular packaging, and smart agriculture.

To date, Budweiser APAC has three breweries in China (Ziyang, Wuhan, and Kunming) that have achieved brewing powered by 100 percent renewable energy. Meanwhile, three other breweries (Jinshibai, Jinzhou, and Yanji) have signed green power agreements that will soon realize the same. In Wuhan, the Hanyang District Government and Budweiser APAC recently signed a strategic agreement on "Carbon-Neutral Brewery", emphasizing its commitment for the Wuhan Brewery to achieve parent company AB InBev's first carbon-neutral brewery in the world by the end of the year.

Since entering the China market more than 25 years ago, Budweiser APAC has engaged in in-depth cooperation and exchange with many cities, provinces, and regions in China, with a wide-ranging scope that includes raw material cultivation, beer production and R&D, talent cultivation, industrial tourism, and sustainable development. It is actively involved in local community building and prioritizes giving back to the areas in which it operates, which includes donating to build Hope Schools at its brewery sites. In the future, Budweiser APAC plans to continue contributing even more to China's high-quality growth and economic development.
