A ballet group made up of 32 amateur dancers with an average age of 60 from Shenyang, Northeast China's Liaoning Province, has recently gone viral on the internet for making its way into the Vienna Golden Hall and winning the first prize. Many netizens have been inspired by their unrelenting spirit and dedication to their craft.
The dancers are all retirees and had zero knowledge of dancing when they started. The youngest member of the group is 54 years old and the oldest 69, according to Pear Video on China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo.
Since its founding in 2008, the Fengxia Ballet has been invited to perform at TV shows, and even won the first place at the international art festival at the most prestigious stage for artists around the world - the Vienna Golden Hall.
"I have been a member of the Fengxia Ballet for seven years. Learning ballet has not only enriched my life after retirement, but most important of all, I'm more confident," said a member surnamed Huang.
Netizens were impressed by their upbeat mental state of not yielding to old age. "What is even younger than their figures are their minds," read a comment on Weibo.
