A passel of domesticated pigs surviving the flood by standing in water for over 24 hours in Central China's Henan Province has attracted netizens' attention, with many admiring their tenacity. The province was hit by heavy rain and flood in the past week.
According to a video circulating on social media, at least eight pigs are seen randomly lying on the muddy roads outside the farm in Luohe, Henan, where the flood has just receded.
"The whole city was drowned in water as the downpour hit suddenly [from the night of July 20 until the next morning], including our farm," a staffer at the pig farm explained in the video.
"Our pigs were standing in water, half-body deep, for the whole day and night waiting for rescue."
The staffer said that all pigs have survived and tired out.
"I'm happy that they've survived," said one netizen on Sina Weibo. "Tough pigs fear nothing in difficulties," commented another. "They are the legendary pigs as well!"
