Domestic animated film White Snake 2: The Tribulation of the Green Snake, the latest cinematic production centered on the ancient Chinese legend of the White Snake, continued to lead the Chinese mainland box-office chart on Wednesday, the China Movie Data Information Network reported on Thursday.
The sequel to Chinese studio Light Chaser Animation's hit White Snake, the film took in more than 24.7 million yuan ($3.8 million) at the Chinese mainland box office on its sixth day, bringing the total box office to 279 million yuan.
Following its lead was Chinese Doctors, a cinematic depiction of China's efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
The film generated more than 16.14 million yuan on Wednesday, with its total box office topping a hefty 1.2 billion yuan.
Coming in third was the animation Agent Backkom: Kings Bear, a sequel to the 2017 Backkom Bear: Agent 008, raking in almost 3.19 million yuan.
