The anti-coronavirus measures in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei Province, should adopt a scientific, accurate, and fast approach, and avoid "one size fits all," Wang Zhonglin, governor of Hubei, said while examining virus prevention work in the city, which has seen a recnet flare-up in locally-transmitted cases.  

Wang said that Wuhan should work on sorting out the source of the flare-up, and thoroughly detect and manage personnel at the construction site that is involved in the latest outbreak. 

Key areas should strictly implement cordoned-off management, increase COVID-19 screenings for people living within, meanwhile strengthening the disinfection of the environment, The Paper reported on Sunday. 

Wang stressed the urgency in the current epidemic prevention and control. A new round of city-wide nucleic acid testing is required to screen out potential virus carriers. Epidemiological tracing will also be reinforced to plug all loopholes that may cause the infections to overflow. 

He urged to carry out serum antibody testing and gene sequencing work in a timely manner, to find out the path of virus transmission and improve the level of scientific anti-virus prevention.

"Let the city cool down," Wang said, suggesting that Wuhan should stick to a scientific, reasonable, yet fast approach in sealing off some areas, so that differentiated control measures can be adopted. 

In Wuhan that went through the hardest battle against the outbreak in early 2020, amusement parks, stadiums, and museums have been partly shut down. Those that remain open have seen significantly less people visiting, local media Changjiang Daily reported on Sunday. 

The Yellow Crane Tower park told Changjiang Daily that they are only receiving individual tourists, and suspended all reservation services for group visitors. A group of 200 residents, who gather every morning at the park for exercises, have suspended their plans. 

Before the flare-up, the park was receiving over 10,000 tourists per day, passenger flow resuming to the same level in the same period of 2019, the park said.

The overall epidemic management should fit the local socioeconomic development, Wang added, saying that normal production and operation of enterprises will be guaranteed as long as preventive measures are in place. 

Some special venues, including nursing homes and welfare homes, should shut down and adopt strict preventive measures, Wang added. 

Wuhan reported six more COVID-19 cases and three asymptomatic cases on Saturday, health authorities said, bringing the current locally-transmitted cases in the city to 37.  

The city has cordoned off 157 residential communities as of Friday. Passenger flow in subways has been reduced by nearly two thirds, media reported.
