The 11th Beijing International Film Festival, scheduled to be held from September 21 to 29, is planning to launch an online screening event in cooperation with Chinese streaming platform iQiyi that will stream hundreds of films both in China and abroad simultaneously, the festival committee announced on Sunday.
The films will be divided into 10 units including Russian-made films, films themed on the centennial of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the Winter Olympic Games and films produced by Universal Pictures Films such as Jurassic World, The Fast and Furious series and Minions.
The announcement did not mention if the online films will be available for free to global moviegoers or will require a fee.
