China to enhance supervision on international transmission of car network data: MIIT

China’s industry and information regulator vowed to strengthen the regulation of data security for the car network sector and will supervise the international transmission and process of data generated by car network.

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued a notification addressing enhancing data security of car network aspect on Thursday. The notification ordered auto makers to build security mechanism to protect data and applied latest technologies to the data safety section. 

The notification underscored the strict supervision on the international transmission and process of data generated in car network. The notification ordered intelligent car makers must make arrangements in advance with local communication and information regulators before conducting international data transmission and process. 

Data security of car network must be secured across a number of areas including hardware, software and network, said the notification. The sharing of car network data will also be strictly supervised in order to secure the country’s information safety and related standards making.
