The humble teapot, not only is it a practical everyday utensil, but it can also be a stunning work of art.
This truth can be seen in a new exhibition at the National Art Museum of China of the Zisha teapots made by Chinese master Xie Qiang.
The
Chinese Civilization exhibition features 60 artworks Xie has made over his decades-long art career. Zisha is a mixture of kaolin, quartz and mica, with a high content of iron oxide.
According to the artist, his teapots were inspired by China's rich cultural treasures, from poems to history stories.
