A seminar on COVID-19 prevention and control was held by the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council on Friday and Saturday in Shanghai, calling for implementing the decisions of the central government, on the basis of a deep understanding of the past experiences from Shanghai and other provinces in the country.
The Chinese mainland reported 42 new local COVID-19 infections on Monday, all in East China's Fujian Province.
The meeting called for a good job to be done in autumn and winter coronavirus prevention and improving accurate prevention.
It also called for learning experiences from Shanghai and other experienced regions, to strictly implement measures such as imported cases prevention, early cases detection, and establishing designated hospitals to treat patients.
As a megacity, Shanghai faces a tough situation in the COVID-19 prevention and control job. Despite facing some cases, the city managed through its precise prevention and control measures to contain the pandemic.
The meeting also emphasized the need to prepare the emergence in an all-round level, such as improving epidemiological investigation teams, the capability of nucleic acid testing, and increasing the number of quarantine centers.
Ma Xiaowei, head of the National Health Commission, and Wang Hesheng, head of the national administration of disease prevention and control, attended the meeting. During the meeting, representatives from Shanghai, Dalian, Northeast China's Liaoning Province, and Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan Province, all shared the experiences in COVID-19 prevention and control. Over 100 representatives from COVID-19 prevention and related health departments participated in the meeting.
